IDEA 50: Fifty Years of Inclusive Education
On November 29th, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) will honor its 50th anniversary since President Gerald Ford signed the Education for All Handicapped Children Act into law in 1975. Today, more than 8 million infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education thanks to IDEA.
Keep an eye on this page for updates from CEC, our divisions, units, chapters, and partners as we celebrate this monumental anniversary and work to build on the successes of those served by IDEA.
