National PTA Releases Survey Results About End-of-Year State Assessments
This week, the National PTA released national survey results about parents’ attitudes on end-of-year state assessments throughout the distance learning year.
The survey, conducted through Edge Research in collaboration with Learning Heroes, showed that more than 60% of parents are worried about their child’s academic progress and 52% are in favor of end-of-year testing this spring. Additionally, just under half of parents are concerned their child will not be prepared for the next grade. While 67% of parents feel more connected to their child’s daily education, 43% have reported a lower ability to gauge their child’s academic success.
National PTA President Leslie Boggs emphasized that the survey results indicate an overall desire for data on student learning and progress to address learning gaps exacerbated by the pandemic.
